WeatherSigma: A Weather Modeling Site for The Western US

Welcome to WeatherSigma! WeatherSigma is a full-featured weather modeling site focused on the meteorology of the Western United States, particularly the Pacific Northwest. Our goal is to provide the Western U.S. weather hobbyist community with a variety of beautiful, unique weather maps in an intuitive interface.

We are just beginning to build out this site and will soon have many more models and features. We currently run the 3km NAM, 0.25° GFS, and 3km HRRR on the 00Z, 06Z, 12Z, and 18Z cycles, all for the Northwestern US.

To animate your desired chart, select the following in the left sidebar on the “maps” page

  1. Run date
  2. Run hour
  3. Forecast hour (default is all)
  4. Weather mode
  5. Domain
  6. Chart

The following 8 charts are currently being created on all models.

  • 2-meter dewpoint
  • 2-meter temp and 10-meter wind
  • 300mb wind
  • 500mb height anomalies
  • 850mb temp, height, and wind
  • 6-hour max temperature (GFS and NAM only)
  • 6-hour min temperature (GFS and NAM only)
  • 6-hour precip, 500mb-1000mb thickness, and MSLP
